I’m Emma Beddington and I’m a freelance writer with an inordinate fondness for large cakes, small ponies and gin. My preferred fancy dress outfit is Elio di Rupo, see above.

I moved to Brussels in 2006 and it’s been bewildering, enraging and enchanting me ever since. I write features for a range of magazines and newspapers (The Guardian, Elle, Red, Sunday Times, Observer), restaurant reviews for Metropolitan, travel guides and hotel reviews for bthere and a personal blog over here. Belgofiles is an attempt to capture and tell you about some of the things that are new, or good (or indeed, very weird) in my adopted country.

If you’ve got something exciting you’d like to tell me about, or if you’re interested in advertising on the site, or even if you’d just like to chat about where to get the best eclairs in Louvain La Neuve (no idea), click here, I’d love to hear from you..
